I-Usahawan to help new SMEs secure contracts with BSJV

Engagement session by Energy and Industry Department and BSJV to be held this Thursday at BSRC

The Energy and Industry Department (EID) in collaboration with Brunei Shell Joint Venture (BSJV) Companies are looking to enable young Bruneians to secure their first BSJV contract through an entrepreneurship development initiative called I-Usahawan.

In a recent statement, EID said I-Usahawan was targeting aspiring and existing indigenous business owners between 21 and 40 years old, who have yet to earn a contract with the government-linked companies or BSJV Companies – which include Brunei Shell Petroleum, Brunei LNG and Brunei Shell Marketing.

The participants will receive training to start, run and grow a business through a startup accelerator, and will be invited to a competitive tender exercise for selected contracts. Those successful will be awarded a three-year contract – with potential extensions – and access to financing through BSJV’s credit facility programme and experienced mentors during the duration of the contract.

The business areas targeted include grass cutting services, landscape maintenance and horticulture, tea and coffee and general services, canteen or café, domestic waste management, recycling waste management, bicycle supply and maintenance, videography and photography services and event management.

EID is inviting aspiring and existing business owners to attend an engagement session on I-Usahawan this Thursday, April 26 at the Brunei Shell Recreation Club’s Ballroom in Panaga, Seria from 2pm to 4pm, with registration starting at 1.30pm.

The I-Ushawan programme is open to wholly indigenous owned companies and is part of BSJV’s in-country value initiative.
