What are some of the current UK–Brunei business partnerships?
Deputy Trade Commissioner for Southeast Asia Rhiannon Harries highlights key linkages:
• CessCon Decom’s partnership at Pulau Muara Besar: Brunei’s first integrated decommissioning and marine maintenance yard Anson International, is being developed in collaboration with Adinin’s Qaswa Holdings, the Ministry of Finance and Economy, and South Korea’s Dongil Shipyard. The facility is set to launch in 2026.
• Kensington College of Business’s partnership with Abdul Razak Holdings: Established in 2003, Laksamana College of Business offers UK-accredited qualifications, ranging from BTEC to undergraduate degrees.
To further deepen bilateral trade and investment ties, Harries led the UK’s inaugural trade delegation to Brunei in November 2024.
The visit also came as the UK formally joined the CPTPP as its 12th member — a major Asia-Pacific trade pact of which Brunei was a founding member. As the first free trade agreement between the two countries, it sets the stage for deeper trade and investment ties by reducing barriers and opening new market opportunities.
