The Local Product Expo (LPE) has returned for its second edition at Bridex with over 200 vendors showcasing homegrown products and services from November 30 to December 3.
Led by the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT), LPE marks the start of their end-of-year tourism campaign, the Brunei December Festival (BDF), which aims to promote in-country spending while also drawing foreign visitors.
The Ministry of Finance and Economy, Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Brunei Economic Development Board through Darussalam Enterprise are collaborating organisers.
LPE has categorised vendors under 13 clusters: food and beverage, agriculture and agrifood, fisheries and fish processing, wood products, fashion and apparel, tourism and hospitality, downstream products and services, construction and interior design, banking and financial services, telecommunications and creative, transportation and logistics, education, and miscellaneous.
MPRT Permanent Secretary Hjh Tutiaty Hj Abd Wahab said LPE provides an affordable platform for local brands to expand their markets by connecting with the public through their booths and other businesses through networking and matching sessions.
“It’s important to support our local businesses and entrepreneurs; LPE isn’t just an event but an opportunity to boost the local economy,” said Hjh Tutiaty, noting that the wide range of clusters reflects the vibrancy of the local business ecosystem.
Complementing the vendor showcase and recreational activities are briefings on business opportunities and processes alongside entrepreneur-sharing sessions.
This year’s BDF will feature over 150 events, activities, and promotions, with many of the participating agencies promoting their offerings at LPE.
The schedule of activities can be found on LPE’s Instagram. More information on BDF can be found on Brunei Tourism’s website.
