[Video] Canada-Brunei Chamber of Commerce launched to boost business ties

Brunei and Canada marked a new chapter in their business ties with the launch of the Canada–Brunei Chamber of Commerce and Networking Association in February 2025.

The association serves as a platform for businesses from both countries to facilitate trade, investment, and collaboration.

Both Brunei and Canada are founding members of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) — one of the world’s largest free trade agreements.

Canada is also pursuing a Canada–ASEAN Free Trade Agreement, with negotiations launched in 2021 and targeted for conclusion in 2025.

The association was launched by Canada’s then-Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development Mary Ng — the country’s longest-serving minister in the role — and Brunei’s Second Minister of Finance and Economy Dato Dr. Amin Liew Abdullah.
