Two Brunei companies join ASEAN business delegation to South Korea

Soartech and RAMD to learn infrastructure behind innovative South Korean businesses next week

Soartech Systems and RAMD Technologies will represent Brunei as part of  ASEAN SME Business Delegation to the Republic of Korea from November 20 to 21 in Seoul to learn about their start up ecosystem, IT industries, healthcare and smart factories.

The programme is part of the ASEAN-Korea Business Council’s (AKBC) initiative to promote exchange of knowledge at a non-governmental level in an effort to build and enhance SME (Small and Medium Enterprises) competencies.

They will join more than 20 other businesses from ASEAN in learning about Southeast Asia’s economic cooperation with Korea, as well as the the growth of Korean innovative enterprises and their use of advanced technology.

This includes a visit to Pangyo Techno Valley, one of Korea’s leading hubs for technology startups. The valley opened in 2011 with only 82 companies and has since expanded to house more than 1,000 startups with sales coming out of the valley hitting 70.2 trillion won in 2015.

Md Aisamuddin Hj Abdul Razak, the corporate business manager of the business development unit in Soartech Systems, said that the trip would provide them an opportunity to learn more about Korea’s smart industries and also to expand their business.

“We have evolved from being just an engineering firm to a technological data-driven company,” said Aisamuddin. “This will be a good opportunity to open up our horizons, identify businesses for good business matching and explore many different smart industries that are well established in Korea.”

The director of RAMD Technologies, Malai Faizul Rizal Malai Ali, whose company focuses on financial technology, hoped that they would be able to learn more on the use of ICT in Korean businesses.

“We are very interested in learning about the ICT ecosystem in Korea and how it is being utilized by businesses,” said Malai Faizul Rizal. “Hopefully we can learn from the ecosystem and come up with innovative ideas to further our industry.”

The two-day delegation programme will also include visits to major manufacturing companies utilizing smart technology such as Naver Corp, Korea’s first ICT company to join in the pioneering of driverless cars – a sector dominated by automobile industries and universities in Korea. Other visits include companies such as Hyundai Motor, Korea Health Industry Development and Shinhan Bank.

The ASEAN SME Business Delegation programme is co-organized by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
