[Video] Superfish Growers pilot Brunei’s first vertical strawberry farm

Having begun planting Japanese muskmelons in Tungku five years ago under Melts Brunei, Superfish Growers are ready to unveil their latest pioneering pursuit: Brunei’s first indoor strawberry vertical farm.

Their pilot project of 2,000 plants is spread over four vertical racks, each five stories tall. Yields are up to 1.5kg to 2kg of strawberries per plant, four times the yield of a traditional field farm setup, and double the yield of existing indoor farms.

Superfish plans to build a commercial-scale farm of 10,000 to 15,000 plants in Brunei by next year, capable of producing 40 tonnes to 60 tonnes of strawberries every eight months. They also plan to sell and export their system to other countries, especially those whose environmental or land conditions don’t support traditional methods of strawberry farming.
