Did you know Canadian foreign direct investment is behind one of Brunei’s most advanced training centres?
The US$100 million CAE Multi-Purpose Training Centre (CAE MPTC) in Rimba has been providing high-tech simulation training for defence, aviation, and emergency response since 2014, serving both local and international clients.
The centre is operated by CAE, one of Canada’s top defence and simulation companies, and employs a 100% Bruneian team of 20.
While trade between Canada and Brunei is still modest, the CAE MPTC shows how companies from both countries can successfully work together.
The launch of the Canada–Brunei Chamber of Commerce and Networking Association in February marked a new step in strengthening business ties. With both countries already part of the CPTPP — and the Canada–ASEAN Free Trade Agreement on the horizon — the groundwork is being laid for deeper trade and investment between the two nations.
