Zasika Editorial Services looking to provide professional writing, editing and translating

With over a decade of experience, Zasika Musdi has set up ZES to help organizations and individuals produce professional copies

Looking to have your interviews transcribed, documents edited, proofread and translated?

In need of an advertisement copy or written content?

You can have all five services done by Zasika Editorial Services (ZES) – founded by Zasika Musdi, a media veteran with over 10 years of experience as a writer, editor and translator at Borneo Bulletin, The Brunei Times (BT) and Radio Television Brunei.

The 36-year-old set up ZES in December 2017, looking to be the first company in Brunei dedicated to offering copy editing, copywriting, proofreading, transcribing and translation to organizations and individuals.

“I’ve been working as a freelance writer since leaving BT, working for various publications such as Borneo Insider’s Guide (biG), Discover Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), and being a copy editor for the Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) Pulse to name a few,” said Zasika who has a degree in business administration and a master’s in business psychology.

The idea of ZES came from an interview Zasika did with the head of UBD’s Entrepreneurship Village Adna Rahman – who pointed out the lack of copywriting businesses in Brunei, despite professional advertisement copies being essential for businesses to market content that resonates and connects with their target audience.

“I said to myself, ‘Why not?’. And why limit myself to just writing? I’ve been immersing myself in (the field of writing, translating, proofreading, transcribing and editing) for many years, why not also offer it to businesses that need it?” said the 36-year-old.

“Businesses and individuals in Brunei also need a local English editorial services provider, an entity they can refer to when they need a professional eye to edit their work, or simply to read through something they have worked so hard on for the tiniest of mistakes.”

Zasika is currently running ZES solo, but plans to search and train local talents to join her team.

She’s also currently working with veteran local writer, Haji Hussain Rahman, to translate his stories from Malay to English to be posted on his website and eventually compile them into anthologies.

Zasika’s more recent work includes feature stories in Discover UBD interviewing PhD graduates on their research – and developing compelling, digestible narratives from complex academic data and jargon.

Rates for ZES depend on project size, difficulty, turnaround time.
